DIY Wedding Invites
January 22nd, 2010One of
the advantages of the computer age we live in is that we can create our own printable wedding invitations right at our
desks. All we need is an Internet connection, a computer, a printer and the
right paper. The invitations available online can easily be customized for our
specific purposes and tastes, and the result looks quite professional.
This scenario shows just how far weâ??ve come since the old days.
Before the invention of the printing press in 1447, weddings were publicized in
England by means of the Town Crier who announced the unions loudly, along with
the other news of the day. Any citizens who heard the announcement simply
showed up at the wedding if they wanted to. Royalty, on the other hand,
maintained privacy about the events by commissioning monks to hand-letter an
invitation for each family that was to be invited. Then, couriers on horseback delivered
the invitations. In more recent times, selecting the proper style of invitation
has become an integral part of the planning aspect of most modern weddings,
with the invitations reflecting the coupleâ??s individual sense of style and
taste.
